The Antelope

The Pony Express mail was carried by river steamers of the California Steam Navigation Company. The steamers used were the “Antelope,” “New World,” “Eclipse,” “Queen City,” and “Chrysopolis”. In San Francisco the steamers left from the Broadway Wharf.

The "Antelope" transported the first eastbound Pony Express rider James Randall from San Francisco to Sacramento on April 3, 1860.
