"God Speed the Boy and the Pony"

For a short time during the early 1860's, the shadow of the Pony Express rider could be seen as he crossed the plains and mountains of the great West. Prayers as well as letters went with him on every stage of the journey. The statue was dedicated by on Saturday, May 25th, 2002. The statue is located at the Julesburg Welcome Center on I-76, just off I-80. According to Dave Belke, rider and cowboy from Julesburg, Colorado, the work was commissioned and instigated through the hard work and finances of Life Member Jim Stretesky (left) and Gene Mikelson (right).




Julesburg Statue

This new bronze statue of a Pony Express rider and his horse at the Visitor's Center, Julesburg, Colorado, is the latest of a number of statues that have been placed along the Pony Express Trail. The bronze statue is 10'2'' tall and 13'0" long. It was sculpted by Brenda Daniher of La Junta, Colorado.
