The date is April 3, 1999, which is the anniversary of the Pony Express April 3, 1860. The ride is sponsored by Michel Jordi The Spirit of The West Watch Co. and Lone Star 103 and Apex Broadcasting and Apex Marketing.

When this idea first came into being it was the goal of this committee to raise $25,000.00 to be used to build additional stall barns at our new J.S. Bridwell Ag. Center here in Wichita Falls, Texas. Through the involvement of one of our local radio stations, Lone Star 103, this goal has grown to $100,000.00. There will be ten teams consisting of twelve men per team, 120 riders, 60 mile ride.

The starting points of the teams:

In TEXAS they are: Saint Jo, Sunset, Jacksboro, Ft. Belknap, Red Springs, Vernon, and Graham.

In OKLAHOMA they are: Lawton, Ringling, and Frederick.

The ride will end at the J.S. Bridwell Ag. Center in Wichita Falls. There will be a barbecue, buggy and buckboard rides, live and silent auction, and live bands(s).

Our Ag Center has quickly outgrown the stall facility that was built only a few years ago and our city council has hesitated in building additional stalls until a coliseum is built. It is the hopes that if this ride is as successful as it appears it's going to be, when this money is raised they will have to take the stall project off of the back burner and turn up the heat to get the stalls built. We would love you come and be a part if time and distance permits.

There will also be a commemorative letter and envelope that can be purchased for $20.00 that will be carried by the riders, a special stamp is being made to postmark the stamp when the letters reach Wichita Falls then go by of course regular mail to their destinations. These letters will be on parchment paper suitable for framing.
