John Fisher was the brother of William F. Fisher. In 1860, at eighteen years of age, Major Howard Egan put him on as a Pony Express rider on the division from Salt Lake City to Robert’s Creek. He had many adventures as a Pony Express rider and when it quit running, he became a stage driver between Salt Lake City and Shell Creek, Nevada – a distance of 250 miles. Later, he married and settled down at Bountiful, Utah, where he became mayor, Justice of the Peace and a member of the Utah Territorial Legislature.
