Jackie Lewin, Curator, St. Joseph Museum, provides the following information:
In an April 14, 1913 newspaper article entitled
"Brief History of the Pony Express"
several riders are listed. One is Littleton Tough. Then in the 1930s
Remsberg does a series in the Pony Express Couriers on Pioneer
nicknames. He lists "Tough" Littleton. From then on all others who
make lists have Tough Littleton.
Tough Littleton was the brother of W. S. Tough and served with him under General Blunt in the Civil War.
